My Disney Outfits + Some Amateur Tips
We just got back from a last minute but amazing trip to Disney World! My cousin/best friend lives near there and was celebrating her 40th birthday, so Ryan and I took Ella and Charlotte for a short, but fun adventure!
We have only been a few times over the last several years so I am by no means a Disney expert, but I feel like I learned a few little tricks that were really helpful (thanks to Betsy, and her husband…they know a lot!). I am also not the head-to-toe, Mickey wearing kind of person, so I'm sharing what I packed and wore. I tend to keep it pretty simple and neutral, and stick to a certain color palette (red/black/gray/white).
Let’s take a look at what I wore while there, shall we?

This adorable Minnie tee is as decked out as I get! Adorable, comfortable, not too over the top (for me) and the price is right! I also love pairing it with something like my Spanx leggings-I recommend wearing something like that or similar because they are comfortable enough to wear all day long (which they can be looooong days).
These sneakers are also a go-to of mine in my day to day, and I truly never tire of wearing them so I knew they would be winners when walking the parks.
This time of year the weather was tricky, in that it was chilly, then not so this oversized, lightweight denim jacket was great to have. We didn’t have a stroller so I had to keep that in mind-if I didn’t want to wear it at any point I had to hold it! It was honestly just easier to wear it!
This mini backpack was also the perfect size for me. With only have Ella (13) and Charlotte (9) with us (and not Cecelia) I didn’t need a giant bag with me. Each of the girls had their own little backpack (they love Loungefly for Disney) with them and it was so great. When the girls were younger and I needed to carry more, in addition to a stroller I also carried this Freshly Picked backpack. I still use it now for either a diaper bag when needed or a work bag!

I wore this outfit on the first evening. After walking all over EPCOT during the day I just wanted to get out of my outfit and into something fresh.
I just tossed on these jeans and top and then grabbed my duster cardigan I wore on my travel day. Again, really comfortable and perfect for park walking!
I think for me, I found light layers is key. Even if there is a chill in the air I found I would still get a little warm, just from all of the walking (sometimes sprinting lol), in and out of buildings, and wearing a mask.

Is a faux leather jumpsuit the most practical? Probably not, but it actually worked out so well! It was really comfortable (it has stretch to it) and so easy to toss on! I wore it for dinner and our evening at Magic Kingdom! I was a bit toasty after sprinting across the park to make it to a ride before closing, but after that I think I would have been toasty in no matter what I would have been wearing! I wear this jumpsuit in the XL.

Sometimes a waistband is just too much, right?! This comfy dress was one that I reached for a lot over the summer because it is so lightweight and comfortable. I found it was a really easy wear for a day full of walking and riding rides! I wore this underneath it-its comfy and breathable! My exact dress is sold out but I’ve linked similar!

This jumpsuit and cardigan combo was the perfect travel look! Comfortable enough to get you through the day, but still left me feeling put together! I also have this in a toasted almond color, and I am waiting for the black to come in the mail!
It fits perfectly-I wear a large in both!

This was my outfit for the last day-the Spanx leggings again were the perfect choice! This sweatshirt is really comfortable and long enough to wear with leggings (it has pockets, too!). I love it so much I bought it in another color! I wear the large, although I do think the XL would fit really well, too!
A few quick tips
Staying at a resort, although a little more expensive gives you some extra perks, like early park entry and extended hours in the evening. We were able to stay at Magic Kingdom until 11:00 pm one night and it was so nice and not crowded at all.
Get familiar with the Disney app, My Disney Experience. I suggest doing it ahead of time so its easier to navigate as you are in the parks.
Plan for rain. We lucked out last week and didn’t have any rain but we’ve had rain on previous trips. Always have a poncho on hand-honestly when the rain starts, it’s just so much easier to wear a poncho!
Pack snacks to have throughout the day but also check out restaurant menus ahead of time. We didn’t look at menus much ahead of time, so we did a lot of “wait lets look at the menu!” when we could have done it ahead of time!
Crowd calendars can be really helpful as far as planning when to go. There are so many out there, so I suggest Googling them!
My friend Trish suggested using a drawer in your hotel to designate for dirty laundry, that way nothing gets mixed in with unworn clothes and things stay somewhat organized.
She also suggested laying out outfits the night before. We didn’t do that with the girls (or even ourselves), and even though we only packed so much, we could have saved some time in the mornings by laying out our outfits the night before!
