My Office Reveal + Tour

I am SO excited to finally share my office reveal with you all! This has literally been months in the making so to have it finally completed feels so good!

Before we get into the good stuff, a little backstory on the space itself…

Over the winter I had been thinking about possibly closing my storefront to focus online. The majority of my sales were online, I had closed for somewhat of a “maternity leave” and I knew with another child I would be needed more at home-I just wasn’t ready to completely close Elizabeth & West. One of my biggest concerns with working from home was that I didn’t currently have any designated work space. When I was working, it was from the couch or the kitchen (table or island, depending). While it’s doable, it can be distracting.

So Ryan and I started to brainstorm, and decided that we could take the finished bedroom in our basement and turn that into my home office/HQ for not only Elizabeth & West but Mommy in Heels. The daybed/trundle bed that was in there for my parents would be moved to the main living area in the basement!

I am terrible when it comes to any sort of interior decorating so I reached out to my friend Zarah! She own’s Indigo Bleu, an amazing women’s clothing boutique here in York. Over the last year, Zarah has been transitioning to not only provide fashion/clothing in her store-Indigo Bleu has transitioned to lifestyle boutique offering clothing, home decor and interior design services. She has such a knack for design, and can see something simple like a vase, or picture frame and be completely inspired by it and just create with it. Me on the other hand, I see a vase and just think flowers (hahaha!) and not the endless possibilities like Zarah!

Zarah is an amazing business woman, so inspiring, creative, professional and talented (and no, this is not sponsored haha). You can tell just by looking at her curated inventory (both clothing and home decor) that she knows what she’s doing. She gets a vision, can create it, and deliver. If you need any help with designing anything from a home office like me, to your living room, a bedroom, even a bathroom, Zarah is your gal. I truly cannot recommend her enough.

While I am local to Zarah, she is able to do virtual consults, so don’t worry if you aren’t geographically close to her! Lucky for me though, she was able to swing by my house to check out the space, take measurements, and chat inspiration with me.

Our first task was to choose the wallpaper. I was thrilled when York Wallcoverings reached out to me to incorporate their wallpaper into my home office. There are so many incredibly gorgeous and stylish prints and textures to choose from. I of course was playing it safe with something super neutral, while Zarah was nudging me (gently) out of my comfort zone. We decided between this gorgeous grasscloth wallpaper or this feminine Watercolor Roses Sure Strip Wallpaper. I really can’t sing the praises of York Wallcoverings enough. The selection is phenomenal, and the quality top notch. They have everything from simple designs, to trendy textures, and even peel and stick.

Their website is super easy to navigate, too. You can shop by color, theme (bohemian, country, botanical for example), and even brand.

After meeting with Zarah in my soon-to-be office she got to work and created two separate vision boards. We met again to chat both of them in detail, weighing pros and cons of both, and tweaking things here and there.

We settled on the Natural & Clean option, so I got to work purchasing a lot of her recommended items while Ryan and his dad worked on the flooring, painting, and other miscellaneous things that needed done. (all in the middle of the pandemic, I might add….so there were a lot of unforeseen delays).

One of the things that made me gravitate towards the Natural & Clean design was the Budding Branch Silhouette Grasscloth Wallpaper. I loved the texture of it-so different than what I have always seen! The color I chose was a great alternative to your basic neutral, but if green isn’t quite appealing to you it is offered in five other shades!

Before I share the amazing after photos, let’s take a look at the before. It’s a different room!

When Zarah and I were chatting design, I knew I wanted a smaller desk. Nothing that took up a lot of room and something super simple. I mean, I didn’t really need anything super special. Something big enough for my laptop and that’s it!

Ryan founds this floating shelf and mounted it on the wall-easy!

This acrylic wall calendar is one of my favorite things I bought for the office. It keeps me (somewhat) organized and is easy to add/erase from! It was definitely worth the money and I recommend it if you’re looking for something like this! They even offer family calendars too.
