DIY Hat Wall for Under $50!
I am not a super crafty person, but every once in a while I get a little spark (and ability) in me and get it done!
I’ve been wanting a way to display my hats while freeing up some shelf space in my closet (which surprisingly isn’t that large). I searched online and Pinterest for some DIY hat wall inspiration and came up with one that I thought would work best for me, and one that would be the easiest for me to do (with a little help from Ryan…let’s be honest here lol).
Supplies were pretty easy to gather, and can honestly be modified to fit your personal style. I loved the idea of gold utility clips, but clothes pins work well, too. Natural, cotton braided rope I thought would look best and hold the hats well, too. Again, totally your preference. I think jute would look great as well!
The dowel rod we just picked up at our local hardware store-the thickness was based on what we thought we would need to hold the weight of my hats! For the leather hooks, I searched Etsy to find what I was looking for. There are a ton of handmade options to choose from!
Once the leather hooks and dowel rod were secured in the wall I attached the cotton rope by double knotting it at the top, and cutting each at varying lengths. I did knot the bottoms just to make sure it wouldn’t unravel! I ended up using only 4 ropes on the dowel rod, which was less that I initially planned! I thought I would need at least five or six but four ended up being plenty.
The easy part was clipping the hats to the rope-super easy on and off, which is what I love. I think they will get so much more wear since I am able to see them, and reach for them easily!
I swear-if this is something I can easily do in UNDER AN HOUR then anyone can do it! What I think I love the most (besides the adorable display) is how easily customizable it is!
