How to Elevate a Basic Top in Simple Ways
Sometimes there is nothing better than just a basic top and jeans. Simple, classic, clean looking. Sometimes though I feel like just a basic top and denim can look a little plain.
There are some super easy, simple things you can do to elevate your outfit and make it look complete! I’ve linked everything I could under “shop the look” but the items I could not (the necklaces and the small hoops) are Stella & Haas and Worthy & Badass-two amazing, women owned businesses!
Shop the look
Do a simple front tuck. Sometimes tops can land at an awkward spot. When I have a top just hanging I also sometimes feel like my outfit looks unfinished. To put an easy, finishing touch on your outfit doing a simple front tuck can change the whole look! If you’re not into doing the front tuck, tucking the whole top in would look great, too! If I’m wearing the right kind of top I sometimes knot it, too!
Cuff and bunch the sleeves. This simple step can also give the outfit an overhaul! For me, there’s something about cuffing and bunching the sleeves that gives off a casual but put together vibe! I typically don’t do a full cuff-I just cuff half of the sleeves (does that even make sense lol??) and bunch to mid forearm.
Add simple jewelry. Or statement jewelry-whatever your preference is! I personally am more of a simple, layering jewelry type of gal. Just like tucking in your top, this adds the right amount of completion! When in doubt, stack some bracelets, add a fun pair of hoop earrings, or layer a few dainty necklaces!
Top with a headband. I’ve been trying to get a little more creative with my hair. Creative for me is like adding a barrette or a headband (I’m the worst with actually trying things like cool braids haha). Something about adding a fun headband makes me feel like I planned my whole look and put effort into it when more often than not I haven’t (and also when I most likely haven’t showered in like 2 days…)
