Winter Skincare Favorites

Ahh yes, the colder temps are here, and our skin needs a little extra TLC the next few months. I am no pro, but I do take true pride in my skin.  When your four-year-old son (this is Rebecca’s right hand gal, Trish btw) tells you countless times you have the softest skin you start to think maybe your amateur skin regimen really does work.

I know we all have different skin types so what might work well for me might not be the “recipe” for you, but I promise you it’s a trial and error and you will find the right recipe for your skin-it will just take a little time.

Ok, first let’s chat cleanser. If you usually use a harsher cleanser during summer and fall months find a more gentle cleanser . Rebecca uses Sunday Riley’s Ceramic Slip it's a favorite of hers, and is a great gentle option. I personally use Rodan and fields Reverse. It’s their 2-in-1 cleanser and yes it exfoliates, but it is very gentle; bonus is it helps with fine lines, wrinkles, skin tone & texture. This cleanser works well on all skin types.

Second step for me is a toner. You can skip this step if you choose but toning is a simple bonus to add to your routine. It helps unclog pores and promotes natural cell turnover. Toning also helps to prep your skin to better accept the next ingredients which are the crucial ones for the winter skin. Rebecca and I both has some dark spots that need lightened up a bit, and this toner significantly helps.

Next I like to use a serum. Serums work much deeper into the skin to help give your skin and extra dose of hydration. This particular serum I use has both hyaluronic acid and pro-vitamin B5. The mixture of those two ingredients is like a large glass of water for very thirsty skin and a daily dose of antioxidants. What it comes down to is that a serum helps to really boost the hydration of your skin, which is key in the winter months.

Rebecca is a fan of Tula’s skincare in general, but their serums are a new addition to her routine. Lately she has been using their sensitive skin treatment drops to help during the cold, winter months.

Fourth and final step, is a moisturizer. A moisturizer will hydrate and soften your skin. During the day I like to use a moisturizer with SPF in it. Not only is it hydrating but it will protect your skin from UV rays. At night I like to use a moisturizer that is extra hydrating and works with your natural renewal processes. It helps to lock the moisture in all night. So, while you are getting your beauty sleep this moisturizer is working hard keeping your skin hydrated and beautiful.

Through-out the day I also try to keep my lips hydrated with chap stick, or lip balm, but at night I like to try to use a lip mask (like Rebecca uses, too) a few times throughout the week to help get rid of all the dry dead skin and keep those lips nice, soft and plump! (Rebecca also just shared her go-to lip products which included the lip mask I love).

One last thing, I know Rebecca is a huge fan of Farmacy products in general, but their Honey Grail is perfect this time of year. It is an intense hydration face oil and is really soothing.

So, there you have it! All it takes is four easy steps. I know it might seem daunting at first if you currently don’t do a multiple step skin care routine, but I look at is as my selfcare time that takes no more than 5 minutes (I mean I tend to make mine longer just so I can have a little more “me time”- LOL). Truthfully though, once it starts to become a natural routine the process goes quickly and will be totally worth the extra few minutes of your day-your skin will thank you.
